Akzo Nobel are a multi-national Dutch corporation involved in the manufacture of Healthcare Products, Coatings and Chemicals.

Browns were appointed by Akzo Nobel to construct a new manufacturing facility for Chemicals and Inks at their site in Irlam, Manchester.

The high tech manufacturing facility comprised of production areas,  offices, laboratories and storage facilities.  The mechanical and electrical requirements of the project were complex and all areas were completed to a high specification with particular emphasis being placed upon the finishes .

Construction Challenges:

The site at Irlam was heaving contaminated with heavy metals due to previous industrial usage and therefore a large remediation programme was required prior to construction work commencing.
