Listed Buildings Sector

Browns experience of restoring listed buildings is linked with the heritage of the company and dates back to the foundation of the company in 1860.  Up until the later half of the 1900’s Browns employed some of the most talented craftsmen in the country and were renowned for being experts in Oak restoration.

One of the most significant listed building projects undertaken was the restoration of Manchester Cathedral after the World War II.  Browns craftsmen worked on the cathedral for a period of 11years with the team members being honoured by the Queen and the site foreman being awarded a British Empire Medal.

Browns work on listed buildings continues today with examples of recent projects including the restoration of Grade I public house,  restoration of education facilities and conversion of Grade II listed buildings into commercial and residential properties.
