Browns are pleased to announce that they have been awarded the contract for the extension and modernisation of Hursthead Junior School in Cheadle Cheshire. This exciting project provides four new classrooms for the school in addition to a Multi Purpose Room for both school and community use.
Work has begun on the site which includes the demolition of existing mobile classrooms, construction of new classrooms and modernisation of existing classrooms. The extension will also form a new breakout area for the school. Externally new playground areas will be created where existing mobile classrooms currently stand.
NPS Group at Stockport have been appointed by Stockport Borough Council to provide Design and Project Management services for the project.
The new extension and internal alterations will be undertaken whilst the school is operational with 350 primary aged children and therefore the team from Browns is working closely with NPS and the Hursthead Junior School Staff to ensure minimal disruption to the school activities.
William Murphy – Managing Director of Browns said, "We’re delighted to be awarded the project and to have the opportunity to work with Hursthead Junior School, especially as it’s a local school and a number of our staff attended the school. It’s an exciting project for the school and will provide excellent facilities. This year we’re proud to be celebrating 150 years of trading and over that time Browns have built a significant number of schools in the area, and it’s good to see that we’re still building them 150 years on."
The project has started and is due for completion September 2010. If you’d like any further information relating to the project, please contact Sue Swain at Browns Construction Group Limited:
