Browns Show Case The 2010 White Van HSE Initiative

Browns were honoured to have been selected by the HSE to show case their 2010 White Van HSE Initiative. The White Van Initiative was staged at Browns project at Buxton Swimming pool, a £2m project to refurbish and extend the swimming pool and leisure facilities.

Commencing 10.00am and continuing throughout the day the events involved all site sub-contractors, supervisors and foreman. Included in the events were a number of tool box talks, short demonstrations and training on working at height, working with silica dust, and minimising vibration. A prize draw was made and the HSE provided information packs for all participants. Partner companies involved in the White Van initiative were Makita, Speedy Hire and the HSE .

This is the second consecutive year that Browns have supported the event last year, after receiving really positive feedback about the event from sub-contractors last year.

The ethos of the day was to get messages across to the white van workers on key HSE topics Working At Height, Training, Silica Dust, Vibration, Occupational Health, Worker Engagement, and allow informal open engagement with other HS professionals and the HSE.

All subcontractors were involved including those subcontractors who’ll be working on the project but aren’t yet on site.
